Expectations

All participants of a Project Team are expected to:

1)  Serve using their given skill sets and contribute to the programs of Medical Ministry International.

2)  Fundraise on behalf of Medical Ministry International to help raise the funds necessary to cover the budgeted costs of the Project Team. Medical Ministry International’s costs per team vary significantly based on the country location, the remoteness of the team, currency exchange rates, duration of the team and more. The minimum fundraising goal for each team member is shown with the Project Team Schedule (click here to view in $USD, and here to view in $CAD) and will be communicated to team members at the time of acceptance.

Travel Arrangements

Once accepted for a Project Team, Medical Ministry International will provide the details of our designated travel agent so participants can coordinate their schedules with the team itinerary.

Medical Ministry International’s costs to carry out our charitable programs include airfare expenses and other travel expenses required for team members to arrive at the project site. Because these costs for airfare vary significantly based on the country location, location of team members, and time of year, fundraising goals for airfare are not included on the Project Schedule.

  • The minimum fundraising goal to cover travel related expenses will be communicated to participants closer to the project date. The travel agent will bill airline reservations directly to Medical Ministry International’s credit card.

  • According to IRS Publication 526, “Generally, you can claim a charitable contribution deduction for travel expenses necessarily incurred while you are away from home performing services for a charitable organization only if there is no significant element of personal pleasure, recreation, or vacation in the travel.” This applies whether or not the trip expenses are billed directly to a participant’s credit card. Team members may choose to fundraise donations to Medical Ministry International and be reimbursed for expenses to participate on the Project Team.

Cancellation Policy

All funds received by Medical Ministry International are charitable donations which may be directed to the fundraising efforts of a specific Project Team or Program. Although Medical Ministry International will track the fundraising efforts of individuals, all donations are made to support a Project Team.

In the event of cancellation by a participant or by Medical Ministry International, donations may be re-directed to support a future project team within one year, a country-specific need, or the greatest need of the organization.
